Detailed searches are possible for the 91 rock art sites that were systematically documented and that are totaling 144 zones; 2,801 rocks; 3,478 surfaces; 17,654 motifs and 1,575 scenes.

To define selection criteria: on the left sidebar use the three groups that corresponds to the multiscale approach (LOCATION: S stands for Site and Z stands for Zone; SUPPORT: R stands for Rock and S stands for Surface; ART: M stands for Motif and S stands Scene).

You can conduct searches within one group (in this case the AND operator is applied) or conduct cumulative searches between two or three groups (in this case the OR operator is applied).
AND meets both criteria, so
  • "Yak and hunt" returns only yaks in hunting scenes
  • "Yak and ibex" returns nothing because it cannot be both at the same time
OR meets at least one of the two criteria
  • “Yak or hunt” returns either motifs that are a yak or motifs that belong to a hunting scene
  • “Yak or ibex” returns all motifs that are either one or the other

Some criteria have nested lists (such as Country>Region>Site or Category>Identification). In this case, clicking the checkbox will display the sub list, all of which will be checked, while clicking the text next to the checkbox will display the sublist, all items unchecked.

Do not forget to validate your search by the Apply filters button.
